Participants and methods: Participants of this study are sixteen breastfeeding mothers. Objective: Objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of combined fish and krill supplements, added to the diet of feeding mothers, on LC–PUFA.
LC–PUFA – long–chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. They plan an important role in the brain and child`s sight development.
Results: According to the results, 30-day regimen of combined fish oil and Antarctic Krill oil strongly raises levels of EPA and DHA in feeding mothers
Conclusions: Supports effects, caused by n-3 fatty acids, and particularly DHA on cognitive and visual development. Breast milk is considered the best food for full-term and premature babies alike. However, breast milk content represents quality of nutrition of a feeding mother. Therefore, 6 or 12 week long DHA regimen of mother effectively raised DHA level in blood plasma of breastfed newborn.
